Do you need a permit to film in London?

In London, filming on a street, estate, common, town hall, school, shopping centre, or leisure centre that the local authority manages goes to that borough’s film service. There are 33 boroughs, each with its own. Some places that look public always need permission: the Royal Parks, Trafalgar Square, Parliament Square, the South Bank, canal and river pathways, and train and Tube stations. I checked Film London’s page on 7 October 2026. That page states no fee.
